>ORGANIZATION The Exeter, NH Police Department is a progressive, professional, community-
>PATROL DIVISION oriented agency consisting of 24 full-time sworn officers.  Exeter is a historic town
>STAFF DIVISION with a diverse population of over 15,000 people.  It is located in the seacoast
>PROSECUTION region of N.H. with easy access to the larger metropolitan areas of Portsmouth
>COMMUNICATIONS and Manchester, NH as well as Boston, MA.  The recreational areas of New
>ANIMAL CONTROL Hampshire's White Mountains, the Lakes Region, along with the beaches of Maine,
>RECORDS New Hampshire, and Massachusetts are just a short drive away.

>SERT TEAM Officers patrol an assigned area for the purpose of crime prevention and law
>NH ICAC TASK FORCE enforcement.  Duties include, but are not limited to, providing emergency
>FORMS services, the identification and apprehension of offenders, and traffic
>TOWN ORDINANCES enforcement.  Specialized assignments include: Detectives, Honor Guard, D.A.R.E.,
>EMPLOYMENT Regional SWAT team (SERT), Bike Patrol, Instructor (Firearms, Taser, Defensive
>SEX OFFENDERS Tactics, ASP, etc.).
>DIRECTIONS
Minimum education required is a high school diploma or equivalent, but a college
degree and/or military experience is preferred.  Must be a U.S. citizen and hold a
valid driver's license.  Certified officers are encouraged to apply.
Applicants are selected on a competitive basis.  Candidates must successfully
  complete each element of the hiring process: written examination (waived for
  certified officers), oral board structured interview, physical agility test, extensive
  background investigation, psychological exam, polygraph exam, and a
  comprehensive medical exam (including drug testing).
 
  Information on the physical agility test requirements and the police academy can
  be found the N.H. Police Standards and Training Council (PSTC) website:
  www.pstc.nh.govAlso, note that there are certain state-mandated conditions
  that will automatically disqualify a candidate (including certain drug offenses
  whether charged or not).  These conditions can be reviewed by downloading
  the PSTC's Administrative Rules from their website and reviewing Chapter Pol 300:
  Application and Qualification (http://www.pstc.nh.gov/forms.htm).
 
  Written testing for the Exeter Police Department is conducted by Great Bay
  Community College.  This exam also provides written testing for 27 other area

  The salary range for Police Officer is $21.16-$28.82 per hour reached in 15
  steps.  Benefits include uniforms and equipment, medical and dental insurance,
  annual paid vacation and holidays, and a 25-year retirement.
