The Exeter, NH Police Department is a progressive, professional, community- |

Officers patrol an assigned area for the purpose of crime prevention and law |

enforcement. Duties include, but are not limited to, providing emergency |

services, the identification and apprehension of offenders, and traffic |

enforcement. Specialized assignments include: Detectives, Honor Guard, D.A.R.E., |

Minimum education required is a high school diploma or equivalent, but a college |
|
degree and/or military experience is preferred. Must be a U.S. citizen and hold a |
|
valid driver's license. Certified officers are encouraged to apply. |
|

|
Applicants are selected on a competitive basis. Candidates must successfully |
| |
complete each element of the hiring process: written examination (waived for |
| |
certified officers), oral board structured interview, physical agility test, extensive |
| |
background investigation, psychological exam, polygraph exam, and a |
| |
comprehensive medical exam (including drug testing). |
| |

www.pstc.nh.gov. Also, note that there are certain state-mandated conditions |
| |
that will automatically disqualify a candidate (including certain drug offenses |
| |
whether charged or not). These conditions can be reviewed by downloading |
| |
the PSTC's Administrative Rules from their website and reviewing Chapter Pol 300: |

Written testing for the Exeter Police Department is conducted by Great Bay |
| |
Community College. This exam also provides written testing for 27 other area |
| |

The salary range for Police Officer is $21.16-$28.82 per hour reached in 15 |
| |
steps. Benefits include uniforms and equipment, medical and dental insurance, |
| |
annual paid vacation and holidays, and a 25-year retirement. |
